When I was student teaching we did this cute story about a little witch trying to find a house for winter.  You tell the story and cut out the orange paper as you read the story.  The first cut is to cut the corners to make the roof.  The second cut is her door that is pointed to fit her hat. Third  you cut the window to let in light in the house. Lastly, she meets a ghost who she invites to live with her so she cuts a little door for the ghost.  When  you open the house to look inside you see a pumpkin or my kids just saw it as a face.
I did this with Frank and Pumpkin tonight and they liked it so much they each wanted their own.  Now Frank is in his room making up his own with red paper.  Here is a link to the story.
